Schedule Your Home Inspection, Today!

Home Inspections

A home is probably the largest purchase you will ever make, so it is important to understand the condition of your investment. When buying a home, you should always have a professional Home Inspection performed. You need to know exactly what you are getting. Home Inspections aren’t just for home buyers. Home sellers also gain peace of mind by investing in a thorough certified Home Inspection prior to putting a house up for sale. The last-minute discovery of problems by a prospective buyer can lead to time delays, added expenses and can even derail a deal altogether. Contact H.M. Services Inc. to schedule your next Home Inspection.

Pre-Drywall Inspections

One way to ensure that a house is built according to its specifications is by performing a Pre-Drywall Inspection. Pre-Drywall Inspection refers to a phase during the homebuilding process just after the installation of certain elements – such as the doors, windows, foundation, flooring, wall and roof components, plumbing and electrical – and right before the drywall is hung. This in-progress or construction-phase inspection is useful because drywall can obscure some aspects of the interior and make identifying or fixing any problems both difficult and expensive, once the new home is completely finished. Contact H.M. Services Inc. to schedule your next Pre-Drywall Inspection.

Septic Inspections

A septic system receives, treats and disposes of unwanted wastewater and solids from a building’s plumbing system. Solids are partially broken down into sludge within a septic tank and are separated from effluent (water) and scum (fat, oil and grease). The septic system should be inspected once a year and emptied periodically, including as soon as the house is put on the market for sale. This will enhance the home’s value and avoid any liability issues that might result from a malfunctioning system. The septic tank is the most expensive household fixture and its lifespan will be shortened significantly if it is not maintained. Contact H.M. Services Inc. to schedule your next Septic System Inspection.

Well Inspections

Are you buying or selling a home and need a well inspection? Please give us a call and we will be glad to answer all your questions and provide you with the information you need so that you will know exactly what you will receive in your inspection and why. Well Inspections can be very different from house to house and it is very important that you are working with someone who is certified and has had many years of experience. Unfortunately, many “inspectors” of well and septic systems are very limited in their knowledge of these different systems and the quality of the information they are able to provide you will reflect that. Contact H.M. Services Inc. to schedule your next Well Inspection.

Radon Testing

You can’t see touch or smell radon gases. Radon comes from the decay of radioactive material in the earth. Radon is everywhere. Radon is typically everywhere, including outside and in every home. The EPA has determined that if the level of radon in your home is more than 4.0 pCi/L you should have a radon remediation. Radon has been linked to lung cancer and other health conditions. Is radon more prevalent in some areas than others? Yes. The best way to know if it is an issue for you is to schedule a Radon Test. There is always some risk with radon since it is everywhere. The risks can be reduced by lowering the level in your home and having an inspection. Contact H.M. Services Inc. to schedule your next Radon Inspection.

Lead Testing

Lead is a toxic metal that was used for many years in products found in and around our homes. Lead also can be emitted into the air from industrial sources and leaded aviation gasoline, and lead can enter drinking water from plumbing materials. Lead may cause a range of health effects, from behavioral problems and learning disabilities to seizures and death. Children six years old and under are most at risk. Home test kits for lead are available, but studies suggest that they are not always accurate. Consumers should not rely on these tests before doing renovations or to assure safety. The safest and most trusted route to assure you do not have lead is to hire a certified lead inspector. Contact H.M. Services Inc. to schedule your next Lead Inspection.
